Introduction:
Northwest Education Access is seeking 10 members to serve a one-year minimum term as part of the Alumni & Student Advisory Board (ASAB).
Our Mission:
Northwest Education Access provides comprehensive and individualized support to help low-income young people, ages 16-29, build their own path to higher education and beyond.
We know how important it is for students to be centered in this work. That's why we have an Alumni & Student Advisory Board to represent the broader student voice, thoughts, ideas, and needs to advance Northwest Education Access’ mission.

Role Responsibilities:
As a member of the Alumni and Student Advisory Board (ASAB), you represent all the students we serve. As such, this role represents a significant commitment of time, creativity, and energy. ASAB members can expect to spend as much as 15 hours engaged per quarter.
A committed ASAB member will:
Learn: Attend training sessions led by our staff where you’ll learn about our strategic intentions, overall organizational mission, vision values, core components of our work, antiracism work, and organizational structure. These trainings will better prepare you for a successful year ahead.
Actively Participate: ASAB members are expected to regularly attend monthly meetings and attend at least one fundraising event, one Board of Directors (BOD) meeting, and one engagement event. As an active participant, you will be expected to listen with intent and share with purpose.
Represent: Find ways to engage with those you represent to collect their ideas so that you can share those back with our staff and BOD.
Eligible applicants must:
Be able to provide a letter of recommendation from your current or former Education Advocate.
Be able to submit a completed application by Monday, September 9th, 2024
Be currently enrolled or have graduated from our program
Be committed to ensuring that student/alumni voice is heard and included in decisions made at the organization
Be able to devote sufficient time to the responsibilities of the ASAB, including but not limited to:
Attend 11 monthly meetings (ASAB does not meet in December)
Attend at least 1 Board of Directors meetings
Attend the necessary onboarding trainings (September)
Attend at least 1 fundraising event
Attend at least 1 engagement event
Attend advocacy day (February)
Attend end-of-the-year celebration (September)
Attend fall kick-off (October)
Commit to being an ASAB member from October 2024 to September 2025
Be committed to balancing work, school, personal responsibilities, ASAB, etc.
Have a strong interest in leadership, collaboration, project management, and networking
No experience is required. However, the applicant should be comfortable in communicating effectively, listening, observing, providing input on the various engagement opportunities that the ASAB is part of, and participating in social media efforts to connect with other students and alumni.
Additional activities may include:
Attend tabling events with NWEdA staff, attend program committee meetings, engage in interviews for staff and Board of Directors candidates, record videos and create content to post on social media, make a presentation, meet with other students to gather feedback, and attend other outreach and engagement events.
